Inspiring Young People Through Personalised Educational Support and Development

Inspire ALP Centres provide a flexible and nurturing alternative education pathway for students aged 5–25 across East Central Bristol, North Bristol, South Bristol, and South Gloucestershire. We have two specialist centres offering pre-16 and post-16 ALP packages. Our provision is designed for young people who face barriers to mainstream education, including those at risk of exclusion or those with disrupted learning histories.

Inspire ALP Education Package

Inspire ALP offers a broad range of inclusive learning and enrichment opportunities individualised for students with diverse educational needs. Our qualified teaching team deliver academic qualifications with the latest pedagogical practice while incorporating practical experiences and life skills development, creating a well-rounded, engaging programme that supports both personal and educational progress.

  • Functional Skills Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications in maths, English and digital literacy.

Inspire: Pre-16 and Post-16 Alternative Learning Provision Programme

Our Pre- 16 ALP Learning Approach
At Inspire, we deliver inclusive education of Functional Skills maths and English in small group or one to one session to support students to:

  • Build confidence in a classroom setting
  • Re-engage with learning at their own pace
  • Demonstrate progress in practical, achievable ways
  • Work toward reintegration into mainstream or specialist education

Each young person has access to subject specialists, including:

  • Qualified teachers
  • A qualified sports coach
  • A gym instructor
  • A music production team

Our Post- 16 ALP Learning Approach
At Inspire, we deliver a Functional Skills maths and English curriculum using an inclusive education approach following the Education Endowment Foundation guidelines on supporting students with SEMH needs to have the same opportunities as other young people. This includes,

  • Baseline assessments of maths and English to find appropriate starting levels
  • Re-engage with learning at their own pace with timetabled daily learning
  • Scaffolding to support writing and communication skills
  • Access to post-16 careers advisor and experienced advocate for college and apprenticeship applications.

Each student has weekly vocational opportunities:

  • ASDAN Foodwise and Catering
  • ASDAN Sport and Fitness Short Course
  • ASDAN Certificate in Personal Effectiveness Level 1 and 2
  • ASDAN Media Short Course

We understand that academic success is built on strong Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) foundations. That’s why we offer a rich programme of practical, engaging activities that promote wellbeing and skill-building:

Mentoring at the Core of Our Inspire ALP
Every ALP student is paired with a dedicated mentor who brings real-life experience, empathy, and a deep understanding of individual needs. Mentors help:

  • Foster trust and build positive relationships
  • Promote consistent attendance
  • Encourage growth through meaningful sessions
  • Model respectful boundaries and positive behaviour

Transport & Meals Provided
We remove barriers to attendance by offering transport to and from sessions. Young people are collected from home or school and returned safely after each session. We also provide nutritious lunches, ensuring every learner is fuelled for the day.
